Summary

Projectiles take a particular position within Palaeolithic studies. Projectiles are considered as markers of identity and ethnicity and are often used for defining chrono-cultural boundaries. The goal of the project is to better comprehend the evolution of hunting techniques during the Middle Stone Age in South Africa on the basis of a functional analysis of stone tools and an elaborate experimental research.
